A second pass is when you text everyone who didn’t respond to your first message, analogous to a “bump” or “kicker” campaign in the email world. For example, you might send these folks a script like “Hey {firstName}! It’s {texterAliasOrFirstName} again with Scale to Win. Just wanted to see if you saw our first message about electing Brendan Wiles for Dog Catcher. Will you vote for him on November 6th?

Note: if you are using local "MMS Only" numbers, it’s unlikely this text will come from the same number, so it’s important to include full context about your original ask when bumping your previous text.

How to build a second pass

Step 1: Create a new campaign

In order to target people you’ve texted before, start by creating a new campaign or copying an existing one.

Step 2: Select “Follow-Up Campaign”

Next, in the “Contacts” section, select “Follow-up campaign”.

Step 3: Filter to All or Any

Next, select your filter type. For a second pass campaign, choosing either “all of these filters” or “any of these filters” will work fine because we’ll only be using one filter.

Step 4: Select “Contact Status” > “First Message Sent”

Select “Contact Status” to open up a dropdown.

Now select the “First Message Sent” status. This will ensure you only target individuals who received your first message, but never responded back. So when you select this status, you are only targeting people who never responded to your message in the original campaign.

Step 5: Hit “Save”

Hit “save and go to next section” to save your targeting.

That's it! Now the contacts will be saved, and you can finish designing the rest of your campaign.
