The short answer question type allows you to insert a blank text field into your calling script that callers can fill in with additional information. This can be useful for collecting email addresses, recording notes, writing down what issues the contact says they care about, and more. Here’s what this question type looks like to your callers:

Set Up

To add a Short Answer question to your call script, select “Short Answer” from the Question Type dropdown menu. Rather than creating answers for this question type, all you need to do is choose the action for this question, as a text box will appear for your callers to enter information during live calls.

Note that each Short Answer question includes a single short answer field, so if you’d like to insert multiple short answer fields (e.g. if you wanted to collect phone number and email address in distinct fields) simply add a second Short Answer question.

Reporting

Answers logged in this Question Type will not be displayed on your View Results page of a particular campaign. These responses will, however, be logged in your CSV export which makes for easy data transfer.

Information collected using this Question Type will not sync back to VAN. Should you wish to upload short answer question type data into VAN, we recommend exporting your calling campaign results and bulk uploading the short answer information into NGP VAN.
