Error Codes

You can see detailed information about your deliverability in your CSV exports. To view this data, export your campaign's CSV and check the “error codes” column.  Below, we’ve provided a breakdown of common error codes.

Unknown error. This receipt from the phone carriers means that they could not identify why the phone was unable to receive the message. 


300

The phone you tried to reach is off, out of service, or is an unreachable destination.

321

The phone you tried to reach is off, out of service, or is an unreachable destination. This can happen when someone disconnects their phone, stops paying their bill, or disconnects service. 

322

The phone you tried to reach is off, out of service, or is an unreachable destination. This can happen when someone disconnects their phone, stops paying their bill, or disconnects service. 

4406

The To number associated with this message, while a valid North American number, is not yet assigned to a carrier and the message cannot be sent downstream.

4432

Messaging to country forbidden. The carrier’s system indicates the account associated with the message is not enabled for messaging this zone, this country or this country is outside of messaging reach (specifically for MMS).

62, 4470,4750(usually a phone that has been turned off, but occasionally is spam on AT&T),4770, 30004, 30007, 40002, 40003, 40015

Your message was filtered as spam. Messages can be blocked for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to volumetric filtering, content blocking, and SHAFT violations (including specific keywords), or because the originating address has been flagged for repeated spam content.

The phone you tried to reach is likely a landline.

4700, 4701, 4702, 4721,4750, 5620,5650, 30003, 30005, 40001    

The phone you tried to reach is off, out of service, or is an unreachable destination.

No route to destination carrier, or no roaming route exists.

Carrier has rejected message length as invalid or too long.

The message was blocked due to the toll free number not being verified. Please register for toll-free as soon as possible.

5201

Transient downstream error from one of the messaging aggregators. 

9999

Unknown error from downstream. Carrier reported a failure code that the downstream vendor cannot map.

21408 

Message not delivered because it was sent to a device that is not configured to receive SMS. Usually seen when attempting to text a number that is located in a US territory or outside the US.

21610

You are attempting to send a message to a number that has previously opted out of receiving messages from your organization using a STOP keyword.

30001

You have sent more messages on this phone number than can be queued. 

30008

Message deliverable unknown. The destination carrier returned a generic error message. Usually happens on MMS campaigns.

Sexually inappropriate or explicit content like pornography, sexual references/innuendos, supplements for sexual health, sex therapy, sexual services, and solicitation of sexual acts
Example Keywords: Gay, Sensual, Sexual

Hate


Content promoting violence, discrimination, or hatred based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or disability

Alcohol

Promotion of alcoholic beverages, including beer, wine, and spirits
Example Keywords: Ale, Bar, Beer, Brewpub, Cocktail, Microbrew, Pub, Tavern 

Firearms

Advertising or sale of guns, fireworks, explosives, ammo, holsters, target lessons, and depictions of violence
Example Keywords: AR, Gun, Shooting

Tobacco 

Promotion of cigarettes, cigars, vapes, smokeless tobacco, and CBD products
Example Keywords: 420, Nicotine, Marijuana, weed, CBD, cannabis, e-cigarettes


Legality isn’t a consideration. Simply using words like “weed” or "marijuana" will prevent your texts from being delivered. To highlight petitions or advocacy on these topics, include a link that takes the recipient to a website.

Note: Gun advocacy groups don’t fall under "firearms."

Including the following content in text messages will also result in message blocking or account suspension:

High-Risk Financial Services

  • Examples: Payday loans, short-term high-interest loans, student loans, cryptocurrency, stocks, and investing platforms.

  • Notes:

    • "Third-party" loans are from anyone other than the loan servicer (e.g., auto or mortgage loans).

    • First-party loans (from the lender themselves) are allowed if they’re not promotional.

    • Stocks, investing, or cryptocurrency businesses can only send 2FA or transactional messages. 

Debt Collection or Forgiveness

  • Examples: Debt collection, debt consolidation, credit/debt repair.

  • Notes:

    • Allowed if the messaging originates from the party owed the debt.

    • Third-party debt collection is not allowed unless the business has direct consent from users.

    • Debt consolidation and credit repair programs are prohibited, even with consent.

“Get Rich Quick” Schemes

  • Examples: Pyramid schemes, mystery shopping, deceptive work-from-home programs.

  • Note: This encompasses schemes promising maximum and/or guaranteed financial gains for minimal effort.

Gambling

Examples: Casino apps, betting websites, raffles, sports picks.
