To register for 10DLC, provide details about who will send the texts, what they’ll be about, and how people sign up to receive them. Here are some of the key requirements:
Your organization’s legal name & address
EIN (Tax ID)
Campaign Verify token (for political committees only)
Active website
Messaging terms and privacy policy
Sample messages
Make sure the information matches your IRS or government forms. This ensures carriers and their vendors can verify your organization’s legitimacy with official records.
You’ll find the registration form in your texting account. Below is a summary of the form fields. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
TABLE OF CONTENTS |
Your Organization
Legal Organization Name*
Enter your organization’s legal name exactly as it appears on your tax filing. Mismatches with IRS records may delay registration.
For Government Entities: Use the legal name on your W-9 form. For example, a state senator would list the state senate’s name, not their office.
Doing Business As (DBA)
If the sender’s name is different from the legal organization name – for example, if the name of a campaign is different from its fiscal sponsor – enter it here.
Organization Type*
Your daily texting limit on 10DLC depends on your organization type. Choosing the wrong type may delay registration.
501(c)(3): Non-Profit
501(c)(4): Advocacy Organization
501(c)(5): Labor Union
Political Campaign, Party, or PAC
Privately Held Company
Government
EIN*
Provide your organization’s EIN. If you’re a political campaign with a Campaign Verify token, use the number linked to that token. Mismatches with IRS or Campaign Verify records may delay registration.
If your organization does not have an EIN, you can quickly apply for one online here.
Campaign Verify Token**
**Political campaigns, parties, and PACs must provide a Campaign Verify token for 10DLC registration. Non-political organizations can skip this section.
You’ll only see the token field if you select "Political Campaign, Party, or PAC" as your organization type. Learn more about getting a Campaign Verify token here.
Street, City, State, Postal Code*
Provide the address listed on your IRS or Campaign Verify records.
Contact
Provide the name, email address, and phone number for an organization contact. For faster approval, use an email that matches your organization’s website, such as info@yourorg.com.
If someone specific should handle questions about this registration, you have the option to include their contact info too.
Your Texting Program
Desired Area Codes*
To set up your 10DLC phone number, list three preferred area codes in order of priority. Learn more about 10DLC numbers here.
Expected Texts Per Month*
Select an estimated monthly volume from the dropdown list. Options include:
10K or fewer
100K or fewer
500K or fewer
1M or fewer
1M or more
Focus Area**
Visible only to private entities: select the business area of focus from a dropdown menu.

Privacy Policy Requirements
Carriers are strict about how mobile user data is handled.
You can only share mobile data for essential services or if required by law.
You cannot share mobile data with affiliates or similar campaigns.
Your privacy policy must clearly state this.
Sign-Up Method*
Select all that apply, and/or describe other ways that people can sign up for texts.
Entering a telephone number through a website
Clicking a button on a mobile webpage
Signing up at an on-site location
If you're not sure how to answer this, set up a call with us here.
IMPORTANT: If you select "Entering a telephone number through a website" or "Clicking a button on a mobile webpage", your website must follow industry best practices as described above, or else carriers will reject your application.
Describe the kinds of texts you'll send, i.e. volunteer recruitment, fundraising, GOTV. For fundraising, include the webform you'll use to collect donations.
Your description will ideally contain:
Who you are, i.e. “Jane Doe’s campaign”
Who you want to reach, i.e. “campaign volunteers and donors”
Why you are sending these messages, i.e. volunteer recruitment, voter ID, fundraising, education, vaccine awareness, campaigns
Will you be embedding any phone numbers into your texts? *
If you will include an external phone number in your scripts, i.e. to a voter protection hotline or personal number, toggle this on.
Sample Scripts*
Please submit, at minimum, two script examples, ideally one per use case. Click here to learn how to write an initial message.
Sample P2P Script 1 *
Sample P2P Script 2 *
Please include opt out language in your initial message such as "stop to quit", "stop to end", or "reply stop to opt out". Your opt out language must include a space between each word.
Do not include a link shortened with a free service such as tinyurl or bit.ly. Generic link shorteners, i.e. links shortened without a custom domain, are not allowed on 10DLC.
