What is Campaign Verify?

Campaign Verify is a third-party vetting provider for the organization that manages 10DLC registrations. Getting verification from Campaign Verify is the first step to 10DLC registration for political campaigns, committees, and PACs

The verification process costs $95 and gives access to a token that authenticates your campaign's identity and unlocks unlimited texting capacity on 10DLC.

Note: Tokens generated prior to November 15, 2022 will be expire on January 31, 2023. Tokens for verification requests submitted on November 15, 2022 and later will be valid until January 31, 2025.

501(c) non-profits, private companies, and other non-political entities are not vetted through Campaign Verify, and can proceed directly to the “Compliance” page in Spoke to complete 10DLC registration.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Requirements

In order to access a Campaign Verify token, your organization must be registered with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) or a State, Local, or Tribal election authority.

For more details, see Campaign Verify's FAQ documentation here.

Note: If you cannot locate your published filing record or do not have one available online, please contact support@campaignverify.org. Campaign Verify will accept a filing via email directly from an election authority, but you’ll need to email them at support@campaignverify.org to kickstart that process.

*In the rare case that a political organization is not registered with any election authority, Campaign Verify will accept a published IRS filing. To go this route, you will submit a State verification request and enter https://forms.irs.gov in the Filing Record URL field, and the campaign's EIN in the EIN/TIN field.

Quick overview of the process

Step 1: Submit a verification request

In order to get a Campaign Verify token, you’ll need to create an account with Campaign Verify, fill out a form, and pay a $95 verification fee to Campaign Verify. (Step-by-step instructions below.) ‍

Once you submit your information, Campaign Verify will approve or reject your verification request within minutes to two business days.

Step 2: Get a PIN

After your verification request has been approved, you will receive a six-digit PIN code from Campaign Verify. This PIN will be used to generate the token that will give you access to unlimited texting capacity on 10DLC.

How you receive the PIN code will depend on what information is available on your public filing record. More details on this below.

Step 3: Generate a token

Once you have your PIN code, you’ll log into your Campaign Verify account at https://app.campaignverify.org/, then click on the name of the campaign you've verified. Enter the PIN code into the field at the bottom, select "The Campaign Registry" as the service, and generate the token. See a step-by-step guide below.

Step 4: Share the token with Scale to Win

Finally, you’ll share the token with Scale to Win using the “Start 10DLC Registration” form on the “Compliance” page in Spoke. Here's a guide.

HOW LONG IT TAKES TO GET YOUR TOKEN: A GUIDE

  • If an email address or cell phone number is listed on the filing record, the PIN code will be immediately emailed or texted

  •  If a landline is listed and you elect to receive your PIN via a phone call, Campaign Verify will call with your PIN code within one business day.

  • If your filing record only lists a postal address, the PIN code will be sent by USPS and take approximately 5-10 days to arrive, notwithstanding unforeseen USPS delays.

  • If your Filing Record URL does not list an email address, a phone number, or a postal mail address, please contact support@campaignverify.org.

  • If you ask to have your PIN sent by email, phone, or postal mail and the information you submit does not match your public filing, Campaign Verify will send the PIN using an alternate method, based on the following priority: Email > Text > Call > Postal Mail.

Step 5: Submit payment

After you have filled out the form, click the green “Next” button to access a payment screen. Enter your credit card information and click the checkbox to pay $95 and submit your verification request.

1. Log back into your Campaign Verify account at https://app.campaignverify.org

2. Click on the name of your verified campaign. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and enter the PIN code you received, then click the green "Verify" button.

4. Copy that token and paste it into the form on the “Compliance” page in Spoke. You'll need to select "Political Campaign, Party, or PAC" as your Organization type in order to see the field to enter your token.

Generating additional tokens

Campaign Verify tokens can only be used once. If you have already used a token with another vendor and need a token for Scale to Win, you can generate an additional token by turning on a security setting called multi-factor authentication.

Step 1: Log in to your Campaign Verify account, click on your name in the upper right, and select "Enroll in MFA".

Step 2: Check your email for an invitation to set up multi-factor authentication. Click on the orange button to start the process.

Example of the email you’ll receive to enroll in multifactor authentication.

Step 3: You’ll be asked to scan a QR code using an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy. Once you scan the QR code, the app will generate a passcode that you can enter into the Campaign Verify screen.

Example of the screen with the QR code you’d scan using your phone’s authenticator app.

In your account, click on the campaign that needs the additional token. Then, select “The Campaign Registry” as the service.

My token expired - what do I do?

Campaign Verify requests submitted before November 15, 2022 expired on January 31, 2023. If this affects your campaign, party, or PAC, you'll need to submit a new verification request, paying $95 to Campaign Verify. Once you have your new token, share it with us by filling out this form, and we'll re-register you for 10DLC.
