What is 10DLC?
10DLC stands for ten-digit long code. Adding 10DLC phone numbers to your account allows you to use a local area code for your sending number. Unlike a personal phone number, 10DLC lets you send high volumes of texts quickly.
Carriers only allow verified groups to use 10DLC. Verification requires registration, which involves confirming your organization's identity and how contacts sign up for your texts. Note: Registrations have to be vetted by a third-party organization and can take 7-10 business days to complete once submitted to Scale to Win. Registrations can take longer if issues arise.
10DLC Registration Requirements
10DLC registration requires details on sender, content, and opt-in method. (Click here for an in-depth explanation of each requirement)
Here are the key requirements:
Your organization’s legal name & address
EIN (Tax ID)
Messaging terms and privacy policy
Sample messages
Confirm the information matches your IRS or government forms. Note: To successfully register, your organization needs a letter of determination from the IRS, or be able to submit evidence of Form 8976 (or other tax identification). Don't have either? How To Register for 10DLC
Government agencies, consultants, resellers, and private entities can register for 10DLC by filling out the registration form in the Phone Numbers page of your Scale to Win Text account.
Navigate to your account’s Phone Numbers page and click the Register for 10DLC button.
This takes you to the 10DLC registration form.
Select your Organization Type from the drop-down menu and proceed to fill out the required fields.
Once you’ve completed this form, click Submit For Review.
Sitting members of government, please note: Register the government body, i.e. "Alaska State Legislature", rather than your own office, i.e. "Senator Example". Enter the government body's legal organization name, EIN, address and general website instead of your own information. Your campaign use case and scripts should reflect your own texting plans, however.
View The Status Of Your Registration
After you submit your form, you can view the status of your registration in your Phone Numbers page. Expect your registration to remain in "pending" status for 7-10 business days while downstream vendors read through your submission for approval.
Once your registration is approved, the pending banner will disappear and Organization Owners will receive an automated email confirming a 10DLC phone number has been added to your account. The Phone Numbers page will update to show your 10DLC number(s) and allow you to add up to 49 numbers to the registration.
Rate Limits
501(c) non-profit organizations and private entities are subject to a daily cap on how many text segments can be sent from a 10DLC registration. Read more about rate limits on 10DLC here.

Registering Multiple Teams
Accounts with multiple teams or subaccounts can register individual subaccounts for 10DLC by following the same steps above. To set up subaccounts, follow the steps outlined in this article. For each subaccount you wish to register as a separate entity, submit the 10DLC registration form in that subaccount's Phone Numbers page. Note: To apply the same 10DLC registration to more than one subaccount, reach out to our Client Support team.
Example: Consulting Firm with Multiple Clients
If you are a consultant managing texting for several clients (each with their own EIN) you’ll need separate 10DLC registrations for each client. To acquire a 10DLC registration for each client, submit the 10DLC form on each subaccount's Phone Numbers page.
Example: Group with Multiple Chapters
If your multi-chapter organization (single EIN) requires separate subaccounts for each chapter, (e.g., one per state) create the subaccounts first. Then, specify in your 10DLC registration whether it applies to all or specific subaccounts.
